COFFEE PROFILE
We are excited to be able to offer this delicious reserve filter from our friends at Don Benjie. We love how the sweet peach characteristics interact with the citric acidity tones to give a nice perception of fruity qualities before moving into an aromatic jasmine tea finish.

Story
The story of Café Don Benjie estate took a new turn in 2011 when Jose Benjamin de Dianous G. and Stefan Arwed Müller, deeply committed to quality and environmental preservation, became the new stewards of the farm. They embarked on a mission to honour the legacy of Benjamin de Dianous Henriquez, a revered figure in the Boquete community, affectionately known as 'Don Benjie', with a distinguished legacy in coffee production and philanthropy.
Nestled within the enchanting Boquete highlands of Chiriquí, Café Don Benjie farm benefits from a unique microclimate. Its 33 hectares are located on the picturesque Bajo Mono Canyon at the foothills of the majestic Barú volcano, where the volcanic soil and pristine spring water create ideal conditions for the growth of exceptional coffee.
At Café Don Benjie, the art of coffee processing is elevated to new levels. The estate strives to create unique flavour profiles by employing Natural, Honey, and Washed methods, in addition to innovative fermentation techniques such as Anaerobic, Carbonic Maceration, and Dark Room drying. Drawing inspiration from the craft of winemaking, Jose and Stefan aspire for excellence, meticulously guiding and shaping their coffees to produce diverse and captivating taste experiences.

The highlands of Chiriquí beckon adventurers with their rolling hillsides, lush with organic vegetable crops and coffee plantations. Majestic, ancient trees mark the natural boundaries between Costa Rica and Panama, adding to the region's enchanting allure. This area has long been a favourite destination for both international travellers and Panamanians, who are drawn to its magical diversity. From the deserted, pristine beaches on the Pacific Coast to the scenic mountain regions and Panama's only volcano, Volcán Barú, there's something here to explore and enjoy.
Among the treasures of Chiriquí is the Geisha coffee variety, a shining star in the world of specialty coffee. Originally discovered in the coffee forests of Ethiopia in the 1930s, Geisha made its way to Tanzania and then Central America. Despite its remarkable flavour profile, it wasn't widely planted until the 1960s due to its low tolerance to leaf rust and brittle branches. However, those who dared to cultivate it were rewarded with an exceptional coffee that has since gained global acclaim.
Bajo Mono, a renowned area within Chiriquí, offers ideal conditions for growing high-quality coffee. The region's volcanic soil, clear spring water, and the famous mist known as Bajareque create unique microclimates perfect for specialty coffee production. These natural attributes contribute to the distinctive flavours that make coffee from this area so sought after.
