David Ngibuini runs Maguta Estate across Nyeri and Embu County, working alongside the Murware Farmers in the Muruguru area. Together, this growing community cares for around 18,000 coffee trees planted in red volcanic soils. The farmers share knowledge and support one another to maintain high standards across their farms.
Since 2018, David, Sasa Sestic and Project Origin have worked together to develop Maguta's approach to processing. Investment in fermentation tanks, shaded drying tables and measurement tools has given the team greater control and helped create more value for the farmers behind each harvest.
Lot 432 reflects the latest stage of this work. Cherries selected at more than 90% ripeness are sealed in tanks and flushed with nitrogen. Temperature, humidity and yeast activity are carefully managed during an extended fermentation before the whole cherries are slowly dried in thick layers for 25-30 days.

Maguta Estate works across Nyeri and Embu county in Central Kenya. Nyeri lies between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range, where forested highlands and river systems support a strong coffee-growing culture. Embu moves from well-watered northern highlands into drier southern areas, creating a varied agricultural landscape.
Coffee grows at 1650–1800 metres above sea level, with the harvest running from November to February. In the Muruguru area, the Murware Farmers care for around 18,000 coffee trees planted in red volcanic soils, delivering their cherries to Maguta Estate for processing.
