Gedeo Zone, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia
The Idido Washing Station is a private wet mill located just north of the town of Yirgacheffe( or Yirga'Chefe), in the heart of Ethiopia's Gedeo Zone. Situated at elevations between 1,960 and 2,090 metres above sea level, the station works with smallholder farmers across the surrounding highlands who grow what is commonly referred to locally as 'forest coffee' – indigenous Heirloom varieties cultivated in integrated garden and semi-forest systems alongside food crops. Contributing farmers selectively hand-pick ripe cherries and deliver them to the station for same-day sorting and processing.
Idido has built a strong reputation in the international specialty market for producing consistently expressive naturals that embody the Yirgacheffe region's signature profile – lush fruit, vibrant sweetness, and aromatic complexity developed through slow, high-altitude drying. The station's raising beds are coded by delivery to maintain lot traceability through drying and milling. "
