‘The Othaya Farmers’ Cooperative has a partnership of around 550 farmers from across Neyri Country in Central Kenya. Most of the coffee trees grown in this area mature and develop slowly, producing extra-hard beans. Thuti Mill is located around 2km from the Karima Hills, with the River Thuti flowing through the area.
This washed, mixed varietal lot from central Kenya is characterised by notes of cherry and yellow fruits and a raw sugar sweetness.
Coffee beans are judged on a 100-point scoring system that assesses body, balance, uniformity, sweetness, clarity and acidity. Coffee scoring 80+ points is considered specialty coffee.
