‘El Naranjo, or ‘The Big Orange Tree’ is operated by Magdaleno Rodriguez in Marcala, Honduras. He grows bourbon, Lempira and Catuai in EL Naranjo and his other farm, El Aguacate and employs the use of greenhouses for solar drying of his coffees.
Qualities of ripe stonefruit and tropical fruits are accompanied by a caramel-like sweetness in this washed bourbon varietal.
Coffee beans are judged on a 100-point scoring system that assesses body, balance, uniformity, sweetness, clarity and acidity. Coffee scoring 80+ points is considered specialty coffee.
