The Uraga Gomora washing station near the town of Dilla is the epitome of the Ethiopian coffee experience; spectacular views of the surrounding mountains can be appreciated from the ridge upon which Uraga is located. Every lot delivered to this station is sorted with meticulous precision so that only the most perfect red cherries remain. Each year, the Project Origin team cups hundreds of lots which pass through the various Ethiopian mills each new harvest. The coffees we like are named based on the colour of the majority of the flavour that are experienced aromatically and on the palate: this lot was called purple for its deep berried fruits, dark plum and dark-skin grape notes.
