The parainema varietal was developed by the Honduran Coffee Research Institute (IHCAFE) as a disease-resistant varietal. This hybrid plant grows well at medium altitudes, has a large bean size and impressive yield for its size, making it an ideal plant for small producers.
A distinct, lime-like citrus quality is accompanied by apricot sweetness in this espresso. The parainema varietal is well-known for its herbacious qualities, which are evident on the finish of this coffee.
Coffee beans are judged on a 100-point scoring system that assesses body, balance, uniformity, sweetness, clarity and acidity. Coffee scoring 80+ points is considered specialty coffee.
