‘This washed caturra is grown by Juan de Jesus Plazas in the hills surrounding the town of Soacha, in one of Colombia’s most renowned coffee producing regions: Huila. Farmers and growers in this region typically sell their cherries to local mills, where they are combined and sold as ‘regional’ lots. We are exceptionally lucky to have established a relationship with Juan and are now able to enjoy his coffee by itself, tasting the unique terroir of his farm.
A toffee and caramel-like sweetness is accompanied by notes of red apple and a lime like acidity in this washed caturra from Huila, Colombia.
Coffee beans are judged on a 100-point scoring system that assesses body, balance, uniformity, sweetness, clarity and acidity. Coffee scoring 80+ points is considered specialty coffee.
