Las Botijas has consistently placed well in various auction programs, placing 3rd at the 2018 ‘Best of Honduras: Late Harvest’ auction and 1st in 2016. This farm is called ‘Las Botijas’ due to the legend of a treasure in an earthenware jug, or ‘botija’ buried somewhere in the area. Bought by Abel Giron in 2011, this farm only grows the pacamara varietal due to the large coffee cherries it produces.
This filter coffee is extremely juicy and sweet, with notes of peach and ripe stone fruit throughout the palate accompanied by a light citric note.
Coffee beans are judged on a 100-point scoring system that assesses body, balance, uniformity, sweetness, clarity and acidity. Coffee scoring 80+ points is considered specialty coffee.
