In the year of 1954, Luis Emilio Eguiguren Burneo planted the first coffee trees in Hacienda Santa Gertrudis, commercialising the product in the surrounding marketplaces. Since then, he introduced innovations in the zone improving the quality of the bean and the post harvest processings.
